Primers (Foundation Stage)

Building the
Next Step

As children move into Year 1, we build on these early foundations and begin introducing grammar and structured writing. Phonics, reading, vocabulary and speaking continue to play an important role, while students gradually learn to understand how the English language works and begin expressing their own ideas in writing.

A Starting Point for Early Learners

Children do not need to have attended Pre-Junior to join Year 1. If this is their first experience with English, Year 1 can also be the starting point of their learning journey, with the support and guidance they need to build strong foundations from the very beginning.

Throughout both levels, our aim is not simply to teach children English, but to help them become curious, confident learners who genuinely enjoy using the language.
